The Hamsters - 65th Birthday Tribute to Jimi Hendrix

Snailspace Slim on lead guitar and Vocals, Ms Zsa Zsa Poltergiest on bass and vocals, and The Rev. Otis Elevator on drums are probably just about the best you can get when it comes to a live performance. Indeed, BOB HARRIS of BBC Radio 2, has rated them the best live band in the UK, and this is backed up by a Nationwide poll, that rates them not only the best live performing band, but also the best interpreters of ZZ TOP and Jimi Hendrix music - and we have to agree!
The place was packed with Hamsterheads who seem in absolute awe of their heroes.
The first set was their own music, which more than stands up in its own right, and there was a little surprise at the end of the first half when Lead guitarist Slim swapped places with drummer Otis, to give a great performance.
The second half though, was dedicated to Jimi Hendrix, and this demonstrated the great talents of the lead guitarist. If you shut your eyes, you could almost believe that the old guitar maestro himself was up there playing on stage, - so accurate was the renditions. But then again, you would have missed the sheer vitality and showmanship of Slim. You may think we’re going a bit ‘over-the-top’ with our praise, but hey! - The crowd were standing agape at the sheer craftsmanship of this band: Burning of The Midnight Lamp, Purple Haze, Hey Joe, All along the Watchtower, The Wind Cries Mary, - even The Star-Spangled Banner, - they were all there, complete with feedback from the mics and amps.
